Our journalists are veterans of the education beat who have come together to write more broadly about inequality inside and outside our schools. We bring together parents, educators, and policymakers who have been divided by recent reforms, but who can agree that attentive relationships are what will make the difference for any individual child’s future.

One Caring Person

We are urging our community to make a difference in students’ lives by becoming mentors locally. Our inaugural project, One Caring Person presents mentors and mentees talking to each other about their relationships. We link these stories of transformation to research confirming the positive impact of mentoring. And, when readers give us their zip code, we point them to local programs where they can mentor.
