Our journalists are veterans of the education beat who have come together to write more broadly about inequality inside and outside our schools. We bring together parents, educators, and policymakers who have been divided by recent reforms, but who can agree that attentive relationships are what will make the difference for any individual child’s future.
EqualEd doesn’t just exist on the Web. We will regularly host innovative policymakers, education professionals, and students themselves who are working at the intersection of inequality and education for live discussions in key American cities. We will tackle a diverse array of topics, from mentoring to reimagining schools.
Our monthly EqualEd Podcast brings you the voices of students who are searching for their path to a bright future - and those who are helping them along the way.
We are urging our community to make a difference in students’ lives by becoming mentors locally. Our inaugural project, One Caring Person presents mentors and mentees talking to each other about their relationships. We link these stories of transformation to research confirming the positive impact of mentoring. And, when readers give us their zip code, we point them to local programs where they can mentor.
